HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
John Mellencamp ruined sports for much of America with his “This is our country” travesty that was featured in EVERY commercial break of every sporting event for several months. That song was and is the worst.
However, let’s move past that to where the now former-Cougar Mellencamp is a proud papa cat of one Hud Mellencamp who, Thursday night, took home a division title in the Indiana Golden Gloves boxing tournament. The 14 year-old won a 4-1 victory in the 132-pound senior-division.
Thanks to his victory, Mellencamp will represent Indiana in the national Golden Gloves tournament May 4-10 in Salt Lake City.
After his victory Mellencamp was given a trophy and a big hug from his dad; truly he’s just an American kid, growing up in the heartland, doing the best he can.

Sad news for those of us who need to be yelled at by television personalities every day; after the NBA playoffs Stephen A. Smith’s contract with ESPN runs out and the two sides haven’t been able to come to terms on a new deal. Reportedly ESPN offered a significantly lower offer than he had previously been earning and Smith opted to walk away from the network.
I for one am disappointed, when he’s not yelling and trying to be a “personality” and is just a reporter, Smith is excellent; although recently he’s been replaced on the basketball beat by the likes of Tim Legler and JA Adande. I also miss the days when walking near Madison Square Garden I would constantly be approached by people looking to give me free tickets to go to a taping of Quite Frankly with Stephen A. Smith. I mean, I never went, but it was nice to feel wanted.
St. Louis Blues rookie TJ Oshie has made many fans this season, but one fan may have landed in trouble thanks to a cell-phone photo.
During the mayoral elections for O’Fallon, Missouri, a voter put Oshie’s name on the ballot as a write-in candidate. A waste of a vote perhaps, but not illegal. Unfortunately, the voter then took a photo of the ballot and posted it on the internet, which, since it’s illegal to share the contents of a completed ballot means the voter is in trouble.
“[The voter] violated the law, and I’m going to prosecute,” elections director Rich A. Chrismer told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “They may have thought the photo was cute, but it was very serious.”
“You can’t violate something as sacred as the ballot,” Chrismer said. “People won’t trust going to a polling place if they think somebody is walking around with a camera.”
If convicted the voter could face a year in jail and a US$2,500 fine.
It’s Playoffs BEARD Time!
First off, I love the playoffs beard, I think it’s the best tradition in hockey.
Last night the Bruins started their quest for the Stanley Cup with a thrilling victory over the Montreal Canadiens. Here is Bruins phenom Phil Kessel scoring an empty-netter and then a fun brawl breaking out. Pay close attention though to the fan in the white t-shirt behind the glass; as the fight keeps breaking out, the Canadiens’ Alexei Kovalev’s stick comes through the glass and the fan tries to steal it. The look on Kovalev’s face is priceless. Awesome.
Also, if you are a Bruins fan, you have to love this team. Kessel, Blake Wheeler, and my main man Milan Lucic comprise a core that is dopecity, Chara is the best defenseman in the league right now and Thomas should win the Vezina. Go BRUINS!
Puuuuuuuullllll!
The presumptive #1 pick in next weekend’s NFL draft, Matthew Stafford stopped by the set of Jimmy Fallon’s new late night skein and helped solidify his status. Now, I still believe the Lions should have traded for Matt Cassel, and given the Patriots better draft selections than the Chiefs, but based on Stafford’s abilities in Skeet Football, he may not be such a bad option…

You Can’t Do That on Television
Ah, what a show You Can’t Do That on Television was, and it was Canadian, did you know that? It’s true, that’s why Alannis Morrisette was on it. Did you know that too? It’s all true.
Unfortunately for Roger Millions of Rogers Sportsnet, I’m almost positive you can’t say THIS on television, even in Canada.
