Perronimo!

Saturday’s Islanders/Blues game ended in a St. Louis 4-1 victory and it was David Perron’s 3rd period goal that put the cherry on top of this sweet victory. From his own blue line Perron weaves his wave through two defenders before continuing his nifty moves to totally fake out the goaltender and fire it in to the net while falling. Well done sir.

Show Me State Says Keep Your Ballots Secret

HKO-U20-RUSSIA/USA HOCKEY TOPIXSt. Louis Blues rookie TJ Oshie has made many fans this season, but one fan may have landed in trouble thanks to a cell-phone photo.

During the mayoral elections for O’Fallon, Missouri, a voter put Oshie’s name on the ballot as a write-in candidate. A waste of a vote perhaps, but not illegal. Unfortunately, the voter then took a photo of the ballot and posted it on the internet, which, since it’s illegal to share the contents of a completed ballot means the voter is in trouble.

“[The voter] violated the law, and I’m going to prosecute,” elections director Rich A. Chrismer told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “They may have thought the photo was cute, but it was very serious.”

“You can’t violate something as sacred as the ballot,” Chrismer said. “People won’t trust going to a polling place if they think somebody is walking around with a camera.”

If convicted the voter could face a year in jail and a US$2,500 fine.

As Long As We’ve Got Each Other

Sure the hockey season is now over, and all 35 hockey fans are totally saddened by that. However, today we bring you a fine hockey video that is notable. The reason for that is because this is from the Blues fanfest held sometime during the season which featured a “celebrity” hockey game. With the game down to penalty shots, the Yellow team turned their lonely eyes to a man who wanted to show them his smile again; that man, Growing Pains dad Alan Thicke.

Sure he’s not super slick on the skates, and his triple deke move left a lot to be desired, but c’mon, it’s Alan Thicke! After all, he did help raise Kirk Cameron into a fine young gentleman and there isn’t a price that can be put on that. Plus he takes the net out but managed to get the shot in goal before he did so, that’s a skill move. Finally, it’s hard to hear, but after he scores they play the Growing Pains theme song which is one of the best of all time. So, all in all, a highly worthy clip for his resume in the TV dad Hall-of-Fame.
