Golfers Flip Out

front_blue2new-600x450Two men who wanted to get out on the green and just blaze through a fun golfing outing at the Beekman Country Club in East Fishkill, NY, instead suffered head injuries and abrasions due to a bizarre accident. Thanks to a funnel cloud, the two men were trapped underneath their golf cart when it was flipped over. Police Sgt. Kevin Keefe who reported to the scene said that the two men, and other witnesses reported seeing the funnel cloud, “What we had was a weird little wind event,” Keefe said.

The two men, proving the toughness of golfers, refused treatment and then finished their game.

Dube Sparks My Interest in Figure Skating

FIGURE-SKATING/WORLDFigure skating cutie Jessica Dube probably needs to get herself a new pairs partner; during their program at the World Team Trophy event in Tokyo, Dube and her partner Bryce Davison suffered a serious fall and were taken to the hospital. Both were released later in the evening, but this isn’t the first time Dube has had issues with her teammate. In 2007 while doing a routine Davison accidentally cut Dube in her face with his skate, requiring 80 stitches and almost permanently ruining her hotness. Fortunately, she’s a cutie through and through and recovered pretty well. Still, once you slash someone in the face, even accidentally, it’s got to be time to move on. In fact, Jessica, I’d LOVE to do some spins and lifts with you…

Despite their fall, Dube and Davison helped the Canadian team place second overall in the competition which featured each country skating a representative from all four figure skating disciplines: men’s, women’s, pairs and ice dance.

My only concern though is for the safety of Dube, she’s simply too hot to be mishandled.

A Tiny Drop in a Bucket

For the first time ever at a NASCAR event, the official pace car will be a hybrid vehicle. Loaned by Toyota, the Camry hybrid was put through some strenuous tests to ensure it could reach 100 MPH as it must during the race. After circling the track twice, the rest of next month’s Coca-Cola 600 will be run by the normal gas-guzzling monsters. Way to recognize the future…

He Did It!

477_patrick-schuster-4th-no-hitter-42109Last week we looked at Florida high schooler Patrick Schuster who had thrown 3 straight no-hitters for his Mitchell High School team; yesterday he got his chance to toe the rubber once more and guess what, he did it again! 4 STRAIGHT no-hitters!!! Against the strong offense of Pasco High, Schuster faced 25 batters, and Pasco managed a mere 6 BALLS IN PLAY! He ended the night striking out 17, including on his 106th and final pitch, a slider for a called strike three.

“The kid didn’t even budge,” Mitchell catcher Doug Burlett said. “When Patrick has it going like that, you don’t have to do that much other than watch it happen.”

Schuster now has 60 strikeouts over the streak, but he has managed to stay even-keeled throughout it all, saying after the game:

“I walked in today saying, ‘Everyone is going to be disappointed in me because I’m going to give up a hit.’ Look, it’s going to happen one of these games. When it happens, I won’t be disappointed. Hopefully, it’s at the beginning of a game. What has happened so far, there’s no way anybody could expect that. We’re just going to keep on riding with it.”

His next start will be next Tuesday with the beginning of the Class 6A District 7 tournament semi-finals where he will be gunning for the national prep record, 6 straight no-hitters.

5 Minutes for Being an A-Hole

In the British Columbia Hockey League Doyle Cup Regional Championship game between the Vernon Vipers and the Grande Prairie Storm, Elias Grossman of the Storm decided he’d had enough. With his team down 6-2 and only 26 seconds left in the game, Grossman decided to send a message for the next game. Mostly that he’s an asshole. First he starts a fight with an opposing player, then he mixes it up with the ref, throwing HIM to the ground, then when the ref tries to pull Grossman off the ice, Elias spits in his face. Ta-Da!
