Family Game-Night Just Got Way More Fun

I wouldn’t be the Mets-hater that I’m accused of being if I didn’t post this absolutely fantastic interactive graphic from that bastion of baseball, The Wall Street Journal. So, without anymore ado, here is MetsSloppily! Click on the image to go to the full-size version and appreciate it in it’s full glory.

    luv it.

the mets will be lucky to win 70 games this year. 70. they’re just 2.5 games up on the padres, and 4.5 up on the royals right now. they’re closer to the nats in last place than the braves/marlins in 3rd. also the mets are safely in dead last in homers for the year. they have 86 homeruns. that’s 20 hr behind the 29th-place giants. and the yankees have almost triple that amount.

my favorite minaya quote this year, which came after mike francesa asked if he was disappointed in oliver perez’s start to the year:

“no, not really, because we knew what we were getting.”

also daniel murphy is not a major leaguer. he’s committed more horrific, game-changing or ending errors this year than i’d seen probably in my entire life to this point.

let’s hope they keep minaya, though. i mean, just because they wasted $145 million on the team this year doesn’t mean they should waste another $8 million by firing minaya for being the WORST GENERAL MANAGER THE METS HAVE EVER SEEN. yeah, i said it. worse than jim duquette, al harazin, phillips, anyone.

The Slanch Report has started an online petition asking the MLB Network to air the Dock Ellis no-hitter he threw on June 12, 1970 against the San Diego Padres. The moment was a seminal piece of baseball history and is certainly worthy of being rerun.

Please join us in this cause and sign the petition below so we can all share in this special and fantastic moment of baseball history. THANKS!
