Kite Surfers Jump 30 Foot Pier

Kite Surfing JumpWith winds gusting over 40 MPH and two friends helping on the beach, Jake Scrace and Lewis Crathern, 25 and 24 respectively took a leap 3 years in the making, jumping over the pier in Worthing, England.

Scrace, who works as a carpenter and Crathern, who is a professional kite surfer have a combined 16 years of experience in the sport which led them to believing they could actually make the jump. Being confident didn’t make their stunt any less scary though.

“It was probably the most terrifying thing I’ve ever built up to,” said Scrace.

“We were practising down the road and we were pretty confident we were going to do it but as soon as we got nearer the pier it was quite hard.”

The pier, originally built in 1862 is 30 feet wide and presented quite the challenge for the two kite surfers. When asked to describe the jump Crathern summed it up  in one word;  “epic”.

“It was everything I’ve lived for – amazing,” he said.

Ron Artest Acts Like a Big Boy

During Sunday’s  Lakers/Rockets game last night Houston’s Trevor Ariza’s shoe came off on the court, showing his sportsmanship, Artest picks it up and tosses it off the court. The next possession down the floor, still without his shoe on, Ariza left Artest unguarded for a wide-open 3. Classy.

Titans Owner Flips Bills Fans the Bird

Bud Adams Flipping the Bird

The Titans have gone through a difficult season; fresh off a 13-3 season they were expected to be serious contenders again this season. Instead they’ve seen their team collapse and become a door mat for the rest of the league to walk all over. Their owner Bud Adams has had his franchise since the inception of the AFL and is the senior owner in the NFL, as we get older apparently we get more ornery.

At yesterday’s Titans/Bills game at home Adams was overly enthused and started giving the middle finger to the Bills sideline. Unfortunately for Adams, many many many people captured his gesture on camera and I would imagine he’ll be fined quite handily by the commissioner’s office. Amusingly, Commissioner Goodell was AT the game, IN BUD’S BOOTH although presumably wasn’t around when Adams signed his displeasure with the Bills. I would have LOVED to see Goodell just straight up tackle Adams down as soon as he flashed the first bird.

Oh well, another time!

The Slanch Report has started an online petition asking the MLB Network to air the Dock Ellis no-hitter he threw on June 12, 1970 against the San Diego Padres. The moment was a seminal piece of baseball history and is certainly worthy of being rerun.

Please join us in this cause and sign the petition below so we can all share in this special and fantastic moment of baseball history. THANKS!
