LeBron Teabags Allen Iverson

As the teams were warming up before Wednesday’s Cavaliers/76’ers game LeBron James wanted to pay his respects to one of the best players in NBA history, Allen Iverson. And what better way to show your deference than to place your balls over his face?

That’s how the Caesers greeted one another right?

Maybe that was ┬ájust Caligula…

Iverson Gets His Ankles Broke

Last year as a member of the Detroit Pistons, Allen Iverson saw Rodney Stuckey get some of the minutes that Iverson felt he deserved. For years Allen Iverson was (metaphorically) breaking ankles all over the NBA, but as he’s aged he’s lost a little of his quickness; Stuckey, at age 23 has all of his still and makes Iverson look foolish, at least for one play.

Iguodala Has 90 Foot Range

Yes, the half was over and so the shot didn’t count, but Andre Iguodala made a very impressive full-court shot last night against the Denver Nuggets. Look at how effortless he tosses that ball and then swish! Right through the net.

Iguodala Posterizes the Nets

The NBA season has started and just think, in a few short months it will be late June and they will be nearly done with the playoffs! The first months of the NBA season are probably some of the most useless in all of sports, anything that happens now really doesn’t matter at least until January or so.

Speaking of irrelevant, the Philadelphia 76’ers played the New Jersey Nets Friday in an epic battle for eventual 9th place in the East. Sixers star Andre Iguodala decides to liven up the game by throwing down a hard tomahawk dunk over pretty much the entire Nets team, their wives, mistresses, road beef and hangers-on.

Rajon Goes Over the Backboard

Fresh off agreeing to a 5-year $55 million contract, Rajon Rondo and the 4-0 Celtics took on the woeful Philadelphia 76’ers last night. The Celtics ran the Sixers all over the floor, the Celts were kicking so much ass that their stars like Garnett barely logged any minutes; there simply was no need. One of the highlights of the game was this circus shot from Rondo over the backboard which reminds me of the old clip of Larry Bird doing the same.

Larry’s shot took place when I was all of 4, but I do remember seeing clips of it run constantly during Celts games and I spent a hell of a long time mastering that shot. For the record I fucking OWN that spot just behind the backboard.

That 7 Foot Tall Guy Sure Can Play a Mean Pinball

Todd MacCulloch parlayed one pretty good NBA Finals series as a 76’er against the Lakers in 2001 into a $34 million contract with the New Jersey Nets. After only one year in Jersey, albeit one that took them to the Finals, he was traded back to the Sixers for Dikembe Mutombo. Unfortunately for MacCulloch and the Sixers, it turned out that MacCulloch’s feet were battling against him, eventually receiving a diagnosis of bilateral neuropathy, a condition which means he has severe nerve damage in his feet. Only 2 years after signing that 6-year $34 million contract, the 28 year old MacCulloch was retired, unable to stand the rigors of playing basketball any more.

These days MacCulloch passes the time playing on any of his over 80 different pinball machines. In fact, he’s so into pinball that he participates in tournaments and is a ranked player, currently 130 although apparently the rankings are a bit screwy and he really should be more like 60-70. For someone whose average game salary in the NBA was approximately $70K, MacCulloch has pulled down a robust $700 in pinball earnings.

I’m Much More Interested in Basketball Now

Via Cuzoogle comes a preview of the NBA season with each team represented by various attractive, or unattractive women. For example, the Celtics are represented by Gisele:

Or the Philadelphia 76’ers “Could be one of the ‘it’ teams of the year” represented by Blake Lively:

But my favorite is their preview of the Minnesota Timberwolves, “Heavy drinking this year in Minny,” the semi-NSFW photo below the jump. Continue reading ‘I’m Much More Interested in Basketball Now’

The Slanch Report has started an online petition asking the MLB Network to air the Dock Ellis no-hitter he threw on June 12, 1970 against the San Diego Padres. The moment was a seminal piece of baseball history and is certainly worthy of being rerun.

Please join us in this cause and sign the petition below so we can all share in this special and fantastic moment of baseball history. THANKS!
