Fenway Park: Robot in Disguise

In honor of today’s Winter Classic, and because I like time-lapse stuff, here is some time-lapse video of the Winter Classic at Fenway Park ice rink being set up. Viva 2010!

It’s Curtains for Booth

Have you ever taken a shoulder to the face from a hard-skating very large man that knocks you completely unconscious? Me either. I’d like to keep it that way. David Booth of the Florida Panthers might have been able to say he too had never experienced that, until Saturday that is. Booth has the puck in the middle of the ice and then Flyers captain Mike Richards comes flying in and sends Booth somewhere into the next decade.

Booth lay prone on the ice for several minutes before a stretcher took him off the ice and to the hospital for observation.

The Panthers were advocating a suspension for Richards, but the as of right now the Flyers captain looks like he’ll avoid that fate.

Biting Off More Than He Can Chew

Amidst last night’s Flyers/Penguins game, as the flyers desperately tried to even up the score with 20 seconds left when Mike Richards collided with the Penguins’ goaltender. Kris Letang is a defenseman for the Penguins and so he defended his goalie, grabbing the Flyers’ Scott Hartnell and wrasslin’ him down. During their mini scrum, according to Letang, Hartnell bit him on the ring finger.

Hartnell after the game told reporters that  “a lot of stuff happens on the bottom of the pile. He had his hands in my face doing the face wash and we’re rolling around. I can’t say what happened.” Not exactly a denial there…

Philly Fans Boo Palin

Sarah Palin was given the honor of dropping the first puck for the Philadelphia Flyers’ new season, of course, this being Philly, city that booed Santa Claus, she was greeted with a hearty helping of boos. So much so that the arena was forced to keep raising the volume of the music in order to try and drown them out. Fortunately, Philly fans can lustily boo with the best of them and the boos can still be heard above the din. Well done Philly! I also love how Palin’s daughters have both received makeovers since they’ve been in the public arena with all new wardrobes and much more stylish haircuts. I hope they don’t stand out too much when they are returned to exile in Alaska…
