Tell Me More About This “Zach Randolph”

Coming back from commercial during the Los Angeles Clippers game last night, one of the dancers, Jacqueline parked herself in a perfect position to be on camera for an extended period of time. Much like the Denver Nuggets’ dancer Bridget whose hypnotic dance moves already enthralled a nation, this dancer too features a couple nice moves. When the video goes slow-mo it’s nice I suppose, but does make it hard to follow the sideline reporter’s comments…

Corey Maggette Goes Traveling

Did you know traveling is illegal in basketball? It’s true! There are a whole series of rules regarding what constitutes traveling, but don’t tell that to Corey Maggette of the Golden State Warriors who manages to travel 6 times on ONE play. Impressive! Unfortunately Corey won’t be going to the All-Star skills competition with that move, but maybe next year.

Iverson is Good at Basketball

Forget throw-down dunks or 75 foot shots, here is Allen Iverson throwing a 45 foot bounce pass, THROUGH THE DEFENSE’S LEGS to Rip Hamilton for the easy layup. That’s just damn impressive.

Curry for the Win

Stephen Curry might have been the top pick had he come out of college early last season, instead, he went back to school and is the top scorer in the country. In college basketball. Boring! However, he did shoot this awesome 75 footer in a game last night against the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga Mocs so that’s neat.

Also, I’d like an explanation why his name is Stehphen instead of Steeven.

This LeBron Guy is Pretty Good

During last night’s Cavaliers/Raptors game LeBron James scored 33 points, pushing his NBA total over 12,000 points, making him the youngest and fastest to ever reach that point, beating Kobe Bryant by a YEAR! Wow.

“He’s still going to get better,” Cavs coach Mike Brown said. “That’s the scary thing.”

Yeah it is. They may need to create a whole new record book just for LeBron…

How Symbolic of Their Season

During half-time the Oklahoma City Thunder invited professional escape artist Kristen Johnson to perform an underwater escape trick. Instead, the onlookers nearly see her drown to death at mid-court. Taking a bit too long to get out of her chains and the tube, Johnson has a hypoxic seizure from lack of oxygen to her brain and her assistants are forced to end the trick early and pull her lifeless body from the water. She was revived quickly and is seemingly fine, but the fans in OKC nearly had a night to write home about.

From the basketball hotbed that is Idaho comes a pretty nice 75 footer to win the game for North Idaho College over South Idaho College. I’m more astonished that both teams fielded all-black lineups, I had no idea there were that many black people in Idaho.

Watch Your Nipples Around Dwight Howard

From one Superman to another, here is Dwight Howard during a game against the Miami Heat giving rookie Mario Chalmers a friendly “hey-how-ya-doin'” when he walks by and gives him a purple nurple.

Braylon Edwards Can’t Hold the Ball

At Curtis Granderson’s celebrity hoops game over the weekend, the fleet Tigers center fielder served as referee for the various celebs in attendance. Granderson had some fun with the role, no more than when the Cleveland Browns’ all-pro dropsies receiver Braylon Edwards went up for an acrobatic, wide-open breakaway dunk and lost control of the ball. “Somebody must have fouled you,” Granderson called out after blowing his whistle after the play, noting that no one was in the vicinity whatsoever. Of course, Edwards is well-versed in being unable to hold onto the ball, as he just finished one of the great seasons in drops from a wide receiver.

The game was ultimately tied up by a pair of Kid Rock free throws, as most true sporting events are, and then a dunk contest between Edwards and Jameer Nelson, an And1 baller where Nelson emerged as the victor.

Leave My Brother ALONE!

Because college sports weren’t unruly enough, here is another fun clip of a fan taking exception to something going on in the game. You see, Providence’s Jeff Xavier drives to the hoop and takes a clean elbow to the face, cutting him around the eye. Painful sure, but not a dirty play. But then, while Providence takes its free throws, a fan walks ONTO the court and starts jawing with the refs. Fun enough, it turns out this isn’t just a rando fan, it’s Xavier’s brother Jonathan who clearly follows the “nobody-beats-up-my-brother-but-me” life mantra. Ultimately, Jonathan was taken off the court and arrested for disorderly conduct.

2009: The Year Fans Strike Back

College fans care passionately about their teams. But being that most college fans are also teenagers they don’t think things through too much, throw in the fun that is drinking before a sporting event and you get this fun clip. Chas MacFarland is a center on the Wake Forest basketball team, and while going to save a ball from going out of bounds he fell into a Clemson student, who apparently took umbrage at that. Instead of letting MacFarland up, the unnamed student instead tries to body-slam MacFarland back down to the ground. Because I’m sure the six jaeger-bombs you had before the game give you more strength than a 7′ 235 lb center. Seems like a good call to me!

The Slanch Report has started an online petition asking the MLB Network to air the Dock Ellis no-hitter he threw on June 12, 1970 against the San Diego Padres. The moment was a seminal piece of baseball history and is certainly worthy of being rerun.

Please join us in this cause and sign the petition below so we can all share in this special and fantastic moment of baseball history. THANKS!
