He Did It!
Last week we looked at Florida high schooler Patrick Schuster who had thrown 3 straight no-hitters for his Mitchell High School team; yesterday he got his chance to toe the rubber once more and guess what, he did it again! 4 STRAIGHT no-hitters!!! Against the strong offense of Pasco High, Schuster faced 25 batters, and Pasco managed a mere 6 BALLS IN PLAY! He ended the night striking out 17, including on his 106th and final pitch, a slider for a called strike three.
“The kid didn’t even budge,” Mitchell catcher Doug Burlett said. “When Patrick has it going like that, you don’t have to do that much other than watch it happen.”
Schuster now has 60 strikeouts over the streak, but he has managed to stay even-keeled throughout it all, saying after the game:
“I walked in today saying, ‘Everyone is going to be disappointed in me because I’m going to give up a hit.’ Look, it’s going to happen one of these games. When it happens, I won’t be disappointed. Hopefully, it’s at the beginning of a game. What has happened so far, there’s no way anybody could expect that. We’re just going to keep on riding with it.”
His next start will be next Tuesday with the beginning of the Class 6A District 7 tournament semi-finals where he will be gunning for the national prep record, 6 straight no-hitters.

5 Minutes for Being an A-Hole
In the British Columbia Hockey League Doyle Cup Regional Championship game between the Vernon Vipers and the Grande Prairie Storm, Elias Grossman of the Storm decided he’d had enough. With his team down 6-2 and only 26 seconds left in the game, Grossman decided to send a message for the next game. Mostly that he’s an asshole. First he starts a fight with an opposing player, then he mixes it up with the ref, throwing HIM to the ground, then when the ref tries to pull Grossman off the ice, Elias spits in his face. Ta-Da!

Bye Bye Buddy!
In a boring bit of baseball bartering, the Atlanta Braves bumped Blaine Boyer out of their bullpen — and beyond the borders of the Big Peach — in exchange for Brian Barton of the St. Louis Cardinals. The beer barons of Budweiser who built the basically brand-new ebullient Busch Stadium, believe Boyer will bolster their own beleaguered bullpen; Barton meanwhile will battle for ball-playing opportunities below the big leagues — in AAA.

Long Live Miss USA
It’s 4/20 and so my posting has been lazy today, hence the now three hot girl posts. However, I’d be remiss to not honor the women on the front lines for us, risking it all to become our next Miss USA. Thank you all.

Not to be all spoiler, but Ms. North Carolina wins it all.
I think we are all the real winners though; not only for celebrating these women and their scholarship tournament-whatever-thing, but for getting to listen to that AWESOMELY rocking out song the ladies walk around to.
Once the most feared man in boxing, Mike Tyson has since become so notorious for his actions in and out of the ring that at this point nothing he does surprises anyone anymore. For me, the day he got his face tattoo 6 years ago was when he reached that point. However, when he was in his hey-day, Mike Tyson was insanely awesome, watch this video to be reminded of just how incredibly fast and tough he was. Written as an intense, dark graphic novel, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were transformed by marketers into the more family-friendly, action-figured lovable turtles that were a part of my youth. Known as much for their love of pizza as their joy of fighting the foot clan, the TMNT were an integral part of my childhood, I still distinctly remembering seeing Secret of the Ooze in a theater so crowded I sat in the aisle; it was worth it.

I’ve Always Wanted to Do That
Alas, I have not been blessed with height or jumping ability, and so the best I can do on a basketball hoop is touch the bottom of the hoop. That makes it nearly impossible for me to ever shatter a backboard. During the Premier Basketball League championship Rochester RazorShark Sammy Monroe stole the ball at half-court and went in for a dunk uncontested, the backboard didn’t make it.
The game was delayed over an hour, but the RazorSharks stayed fresh, ultimately defeating the Battle Creek Knights 152-115 in front of a crowd of 7,119 to win their second straight championship.
The USC Song Girls every year do a charity event benefiting physically challenged athletes, called “Swim with Mike,” the key draw for the benefit being the Song Girls in bikinis. Now, I could care less about college sports, but I couldn’t care MORE about college co-eds in bikinis. Now granted, many of the Song Girls are butter-faces, but in a bikini I’m paying less attention to the face anyways…

John Mellencamp ruined sports for much of America with his “This is our country” travesty that was featured in EVERY commercial break of every sporting event for several months. That song was and is the worst.
However, let’s move past that to where the now former-Cougar Mellencamp is a proud papa cat of one Hud Mellencamp who, Thursday night, took home a division title in the Indiana Golden Gloves boxing tournament. The 14 year-old won a 4-1 victory in the 132-pound senior-division.
Thanks to his victory, Mellencamp will represent Indiana in the national Golden Gloves tournament May 4-10 in Salt Lake City.
After his victory Mellencamp was given a trophy and a big hug from his dad; truly he’s just an American kid, growing up in the heartland, doing the best he can.
