You Got Faaaaaaaaat

Well, this is just an EXCELLENT use of resources. Finally, AOL’s FanHouse is doing something truly worthwhile, a slideshow of athletes who got fat!

YES!

I love it. Although, I will admit, comparing someone in their 40s to their 20 year old self probably isn’t fair, but hey, look at how big Tony Gwynn got! Click the picture for the full slideshow. Enjoy!

I’m liveblogging my response to these pics:

Tyson – Why is that Asian man about to reach into Mike’s tighty whities?
    Maradona – Doesn’t look fat
Daly – The fat actually helps distract from his horrendous hair
Starks – Hilarious “before” pic, also doesn’t look that fat
Barkley – I’ve seen him much fatter
    D. Wells – He’s fat in both pictures!
Danny Manning – He’s not white!? I guess I should watch more NBA
Dykstra – Looks like he just got punched in the face in both of those
Rick Mahorn – See Danny Manning
    Cecil Fielder – Looks thinner!

Anyway, whoever put that together could have done a better job at finding “after” pictures that weren’t just “wearing a suit instead of a uniform” pictures.

I agree, the after photos were generally disappointing, but I do appreciate any effort to gauge the fatness of one-time idols

well, not Danny Manning, no one looks up to him…

The Slanch Report has started an online petition asking the MLB Network to air the Dock Ellis no-hitter he threw on June 12, 1970 against the San Diego Padres. The moment was a seminal piece of baseball history and is certainly worthy of being rerun.

Please join us in this cause and sign the petition below so we can all share in this special and fantastic moment of baseball history. THANKS!
