Owner Bobbleheads are the Newest Collector’s Item

ebffbe1413_Henry_06302009Red Sox owner John Henry married his blushing 30 year old bride, Linda Pizzuti over the weekend at Fenway while the Sox were out on the road. Instead of boring gifts for their guests, the billionaire gave out silver picture-frames with the guests standing in front of the Green Monster or with the World Series trophies. Pretty sweet!

As well, when the friends and family streamed out of the stadium they were given an additional present, a John Henry/Linda bobblehead! Unfortunately for the Henry’s, according to the gossip hounds over at the Boston Herald, “Many, many, of the parting gifts, we’re told, were left behind.”

Sorry Ladies, Move on to the Next Billionaire

a09a58b9b6_celtics_04012009For all of you female readers who thought that adding a soft-spoken billionaire who happens to own the Boston Red Sox as your husband might be a good idea, your time has passed. Divorced a little over a year ago, John Henry is once more OFF the market as he and his affiance sent out special save-the-date gifts — engraved bottles of Francis Ford Coppola sparkling wine engraved with their initials — announcing their nuptials. The ceremony is to be on June 27th and reportedly will be held at Fenway Park, because even if you’re a billionaire there’s no reason to pay outrageous rental fees for the Knights of Columbus hall.

Henry, who is 59 and Linda Pizzuti, 30, got engaged only 6 months after meeting at the Alibi bar in the Liberty Hotel. Pizzuti, a real estate developer specializes in sustainable development and also is an adventurer, having once thrown a formal dinner party at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro and recently went with Henry on a turtle safari to the Galapagos Islands. Oh yeah, and she’s totally super cute.

I have GOT to get me a billion dollars!

Wow the Economy is REALLY Bad

The clearest sign that the current economic crisis is expected to continue for quite a while; the Boston Red Sox for the first time in 14 years have NOT raised their ticket prices for next season. “As stewards of this great franchise, John, Larry and I hold our positions as a kind of public trust, and from that perspective, a freeze in ticket prices for the 2009 season is both fair and appropriate for the times and economic conditions,” said Red Sox chairman Tom Werner said in a press release.

John Henry is a billionaire financial genius, if he doesn’t think that the market will support a ticket increase on a team that has set the record for consecutive sell-outs and where people will gladly sell their childen in order to get season tickets then I am very VERY concerned. Our country’s economy is going to completely collapse. Get out now!
