The Raptors Must HATE Their Fans

The Toronto Raptors must be trying to drive down their attendance or something, that’s the only reason I can think of for why they would unleash a cruel and unusual punishment on their fanbase. On February 3rd the team will hold “Fan Night” at the Air Canada Centre, innocuous enough, in fact, down right pleasant; but wait, there’s MORE!

The game will be held against the New Jersey Nets! ¬†Yes the same team that currently sits 2-26 and has shown no sign of ever improving. Wow, what a GAME! If that’s not enough to get you into the game, THERE’S MORE!

At halftime, for the fans, as a way to HONOR and APPRECIATE them, the Raptors will unleash VANILLA ICE!

ACK!

WHY! How much would they have to pay you to go to that game? Hundreds of American dollars right?

Is there some kind of plot where the owner of the Raptors wants to lower attendance in order to relocate to Miami? Otherwise, this just seems especially cruel.

Trevor Ariza Swings and Misses

Trevor Ariza was 0-9 from the floor during Sunday’s Rockets/Raptors game and was obviously feeling very frustrated. After battling for a loose ball, he lets his annoyance bubble over and tries to take a swing at DeMar DeRozan. Showing that his struggles on the court weren’t an illusion, Ariza whiffs on connecting with his punch too. Unluckily for him though the refs caught him and he was immediately tossed out of the game.

Jarrett Jack Ties the Bulls in Knots

Hey, I get that being down 27 points in the waning seconds of the third quarter doesn’t inspire a lot of intensity, but if you’re the Chicago Bulls at least PRETEND you’re trying hard. During Saturday’s matchup between the Raptors and Bulls Jarrett Jack held the ball as the final seconds of the third quarter counted off; unchallenged by the defense, he stood just past the half-line and waited. When no one came to play on him, Jack took care of some business, tying his shoes with the basketball just chilling in his arm. Luol Deng of the Bulls apparently just can’t be bothered.

Paul Pierce Gives a Facial and Then Takes Out the Junk

Early in the 4th quarter of Friday’s Celtics/Raptors game Boston captain Paul Pierce drove to the hole and powered a dunk down over All Star Chris Bosh. While going up for the dunk Pierce’s knee was at a weird angle and drove directly into Chris Bosh’s man-parts; score that 2 points for Pierce, 2 pained areas on Bosh’s body.

My Name is My NAME!

chrisbosh1After nearly 6 months Toronto Rapto Chris Bosh has finally won his suit against a cybersquatting company that had registered the domain “chrisbosh.com” and nearly 800 other athlete’s names.

Luis Zavala and his company Hoopology.com had registered dozens of domains using various NBA players’ names including stars like Deron Williams, Tayshaun Prince, Rashard Lewis, Danny Granger and Maurice Williams using their celebrity to drive traffic and earn advertising dollars, without the players’ permission.

In her final ruling, Judge Florence-Marie Cooper relinquished control of chrisbosh.com to the Raptors star, as well as giving him possession of the nearly 800 other domain names Zavala had registered.

“I am thrilled that I am able to offer the return of these domain names to a host of other athletes and celebrities whose names were cybersquatted,” Bosh said in a statement Wednesday. “I will offer the return of the domain names free of charge.”

B0sh also won $120,000 in April for the violation of his rights under the U.S. Federal Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act in a California federal court.

Of course, cybersquatting is totally lame, and Chris Bosh shouldn’t have his name being used without his permission but I’m a bit confused as to why the Judge gave Bosh possession over the other domain names, why not just return them to the proper people. Sure, he SAYS he’s going to return them, but what if he decides he hates Andrea Bargnani and just refuses to give it back?
