Well Played Sir
As part of an advertising campaign to raise awareness about bowel cancer — the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the UK, killing 44 Britons a day — several members of the English national soccer team participated in a high-tech photo shoot.
The campaign, “There is Moore to Know” is sponsored in part by the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK, after the former English team captain who died of bowel cancer at age 51. The unique images were created using cutting edge technologies to draw attention to the inner workings of the body, in particular the bowels. Because you can never pay TOO much time to the bowels. Taking the images that sports photographer John Davis shot, a 3d visualizations company added in the anatomical layers.
Stephanie Moore, Bobby’s widow and founder of the Bobby Moore Fund: “The support of the current England squad means so much to me and to the Bobby Moore Fund as a whole. Through this campaign, the players will help raise awareness of bowel cancer.”
David James (above) commented: “Lives can be saved if more people know about bowel cancer and can recognise the symptoms of the disease.”
Andre Arshavin Saving the Day
Andre Arshavin was transferred to Arsenal in February, but he really made his mark in Tuesday’s match when he took out Liverpool nearly single-handed. Becoming only the 6th player in English Premier League history to score 4 goals in an away match, Arshavin and the rest of Arsenal won, 4-3, preventing Liverpool from winning the EPL.
All four goals are really pretty but the first one and then the one at about 4:40 in are incredible. The last one is nuts, look at how far Arshavin runs and how ridiculously fast he is overtaking the defenders who are like 20 yards ahead of him.
I Can’t Do That
You know what’s awesome about a good bicycle kick? Everything.
I Dislike Your Officiating
Comercial coach Pedro Santilli of the Brazilian second division had seen enough during the Sao Paolo Championship game against Catanduvense. Frustrated with the way the game was going, when the ball went out-of-bounds by him, he picked it up, and when a Catanduvense player came to make a throw-in, Santilla threw an elbow into his chest. Now, I don’t want to say that the player is a wuss and was faking it, but when an elderly man bumps you, you shouldn’t be knocked to the ground like Tyson just knocked you out…Santilli wasn’t done though, he walks onto the field, yelling at the ref and gives the ref an uppercut before being sent off and leaving the field. Comercial ended up losing the game and were relegated to the third division.
Playing for Inter in the Italian Serie A soccer league would be a dream come true for millions of people; making millions of dollars and having thousands of fans adore you are also the dreams of many people. For Adriano, a Brazilian striker on Inter, those things are apparently not enough. Supposed to return to Italy after the international break, Adriano decided to stay in Brazil with his family. During a press conference explaining his decision, he had this to say: “Right now I am only thinking about my health. This is my reasoning behind why I want to stop playing football, at least temporarily anyway. I have lost the passion to play. I am prepared to give up the money of my salary if need be.”
The source of his angst? Adriano and his girlfriend recently broke up. Now, a bad break up is one thing, but c’mon man, you can’t give up your entire life because you’re jonesed out right now. You’re an international celebrity, you’re young, you’re rich, I guarantee there will be lots of other hot chicks out there willing to get down with you and at least ONE of them will be totally cool and someone you like
Joanna Machado, Adriano’s ex told the newspaper O Dia, “Adriano is completely lost and he needs help…I no longer have the strength to take care of him. I have always looked [after] him, but he has never shown me any respect. He has never done anything for me.”
See, you’re better off without her dude! Unfortunately, Adriano, who has a reputation for petulance and hard-partying doesn’t see it that way and has reportedly been hanging out with unsavory characters since his return to Brazil. Meanwhile, Inter, and his big contract are awaiting him in Italy…

Nives Celsius is a Croatian model married to Dino Drpic, a fellow Croat currently plying his trade for Karlsruher SC in the Bundesliga.
Her husband has had a slew of problems recently; for example, his Croatian team, Dinamo Zagreb, terminated his contract in late January due to his gambling problems. The club also previously insisted that Drpic change his uniform number from “69” to “11,” after Nives went on television boasting that the couple had had sex at midfield of Zagreb’s stadium. “Dino had arranged that people should turn on the stadium lights for us and he finally fulfilled his dream of having sex in the middle of a football pitch. It was very naughty,” she told a Serbian talk show. When he was loaned to Karlsruher, Drpic asked for 69 again, and was told the team doesn’t issue numbers that high; except apparently for his teammate Andreas Gorlitz who wears “77”…
Travails like that could be hard on a man, but when you have a wife like Nives Celsius who is down for anything, like say, humping at midfield, life can’t be all bad.
Someday, I’m going to become a big-time European soccer star and all these incredible models are going to throw themselves at me. More than they already do that is…
Anyhoo, here are some photos of Nives’ recent photo shoot for FHM, count me in.

Nice Shots!
Since I can’t seem to stop posting soccer and hockey videos today, here’s another post with two pretty awesome shots one from each sport.
The first features Linus Omark a young Swedish forward playing in a friendly between his country and Switzerland. The game went into a shootout and this is one of the prettiest, sweetest shootout goals I’ve ever seen. Enjoy!
Then, here is an excellent long-range shot from the soccer world. Eat your heart out Beckham.
Look Out Rahzel
Whoever made this video of Polish national team goalie Artur Boruc has way too much free time on their hands. Of course, this is coming from someone who is now reblogging it, so who is really the one with too much free time…?
Anyhoo, Boruc clearly likes to spit, and so someone took the time to turn his spitting into a beatbox mashup. I love it.
Out With the Old, In With Her
The English national soccer team recently changed their uniforms to an all-white affair that is a retro throwback to the 50s and 60s. However, this uniform may look old-school but is supposedly very high-tech, featuring air vents (holes at the armpits) and a revolutionary fiber. They even moved the crest that goes over the breast, moving it up so it wouldn’t chafe at the nipples. Speaking of, here is an extremely attractive woman named Emma modeling the new uniform. I want one. With her in it.
Soccer Can Be Interesting
Here’s two things you don’t see everyday in a soccer game. In the first video, after receiving a penalty kick Costin Lazar, a player on Rapid Bucharest refused the penalty, ultimately kicking the ball out of bounds and giving it back to the other team. Rapid was up 2-0 at the time, but even still a penalty kick, inside the box is a valuable thing and he willingly gave it up, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before.
Then in this second video from a friendly between Northern Ireland and Poland comes an awful goalie miscue. This is just embarrassingly bad.
