With the Lingerie Football League’s expansion to Canada set to begin in 2012, the league has decided that to shut down the American teams until the spring of 2013.
This is the worst news that has ever hit American society. It might be the single biggest disappointment in the history of the world.
The LFL intends to shift the American teams to play in the spring and summer months, instead of running in the fall alongside the NFL.
“I am disappointed that there will be no 2012 season and it will be tough to keep players interest focused on playing when we have such a long off-season. We have to keep them in shape though by holding practices to a limited number a month, so that we don’t burn them out on football before the season arrives in 2013. I wish we could at least have non-conference interaction games during this off-year, so that the girls and fans having something to look forward to.” said Tui Suiaunoa, Co-Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the Los Angeles Temptation.
Don’t take this to mean that the league is shuttering for good though, after Canada the LFL is opening up an Australian league in 2013 and continuing towards total world domination.
“This hiatus also enables us to take this great game of ours international with the premiere of LFL Canada and in 2013 the kickoff of LFL Australia. We are focused to not simply resting on being called the ‘fastest growing sports league in the US’ (BusinessWeek) but the fastest growing sports franchise in the world.” said Commissioner and Chairman Mitchell Mortaza.
Additionally, as soon as 2015 the LFL might have something that no other sports league in North America can claim, a true WORLD Championship game with teams from the US and Canada taking on squads from Australia and England.
We’ll miss you sweet ladies. 2013 can’t come soon enough.
And to the Mayans: Don’t fuck this up for the rest of us.
