London Hot Olympian of the Afternoon: Germany’s Miriam Welte

Each day we will bring you three (likely unknown-to-you) Olympians who, while maybe not quite worthy of a place on the medal stand, certainly are worth being placed on a pedestal for us to enjoy. When it comes to indoor cycling, Germany’s tandem of Miriam Welte and Kristina Vogel are the top dogs. Having won the gold in London (thanks to a DQ by the Chinese team) as well as setting world record’s at the UCI Track Cycling Championships. In addition, Welte herself set an individual record in June. 

A first-time Olympian, Welte, 25, is poised to be a major force in indoor cycling for years to come.
