It’s truck day in Boston today, the annual overly covered highly-anticipated journey of some baseballs, bats, gloves, helmets, uniforms, sunflower seeds and illegal Thai hookers from Boston to Fort Myers and Red Sox spring training.
What a GLORIOUS day. We’re so close to actual baseball being played I can smell it.
Once again, in honor of the now late Detroit Tigers broadcasting legend Ernie Harwell, here is his famous spring training introduction.
- from Song of Solomon 2:11-12: “For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.”
- “People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.”
