Next Stop: Spring Training

It’s truck day in Boston today, the annual overly covered highly-anticipated journey of some baseballs, bats, gloves, helmets, uniforms, sunflower seeds and illegal Thai hookers from Boston to Fort Myers and Red Sox spring training.

What a GLORIOUS day. We’re so close to actual baseball being played I can smell it.

Once again, in honor of the now late Detroit Tigers broadcasting legend Ernie Harwell, here is his famous spring training introduction.

  • from Song of Solomon 2:11-12: “For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.”
And of course, one of my favorite quotes of all time, from Hall of Famer Rogers Hornsby:
  • “People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.”
It’s coming!

Next stop: World Series baby!
