Derek Fisher will never make an All Star team and the only way he’s going to the Hall of Fame is if he buys a ticket to see one of his illustrious teammates get inducted, but he has forged a fairly impressive 13-year career as a solid role player on contenders and owns 4 championship rings (so far.) With his ability to knock down an open 3 and his high shooting percentage, he’s a strong, if unspectacular, third scoring option for the Lakers. Off the court, he’s the President of the NBA Players Association, a testiment to his standing with his fellow players, and he does color commentary for the Los Angeles Sparks WNBA franchise in his offseasons.
Born in Chicago, rapper Common (born Lonnie Rashied Lynn) released his first record way back in 1992 but it wasn’t until 2000 when he achieved more mainstream recognition and success with his Like Water for Chocolate album. Since winning his second Grammy, Common has branched out to the acting world with performances in cinematic masterpieces like Smokin’ Aces, Street Kings, American Gangster, Wanted, and Terminator Salvation.
